History
Evidence of the city's settlement dates back to the Stone Age. As a crossroads of trade routes, the town was an important centre of the Rye Island. The first written mention of the town dates back to 1250. According to the town chronicle, the present-day town of Dunajská Streda was founded in 1874 by joining the formerly separate settlements to the original part of Dunajská Streda
